The entries behind boardgameBuilder
boardgameBuilder is a tool for designing a board game by putting blocks together. It does not write its feedback when you ask; it looks it up in the entries below, so the tool can only be as right as they are. A few have been checked against sources; most nobody has checked yet.
Anyone can read every entry here. If you sign in, you can add a record to any of them: that you checked it against a source, or that you tried it with people at a table, what you found, and how. Your record stays under your name, beside everyone else's. How checking works.

Known games are short games to play with things at hand, each with its rules, credits and the blocks it is made of, and each downloadable as a file the tool opens as a design. Anyone signed in can propose a game as a file in the same shape.
Pairs and feeling-and-block entries come in two kinds. Curated entries were assembled in April 2026 and their example games were checked against BoardGameGeek in October. Drafted entries were written on 16 October 2026 so that every combination of blocks says something, and nobody has reviewed them yet.
The blocks
Core mechanic
The main thing players do on their turn.
Victory condition
What players are trying to do.
Player interaction
How players affect each other.
Chance or skill
How much luck vs. brain-work decides the game.
Theme
What the game is about.
Information visibility
What players can see about each other.
Timing
When and how fast players act: one after another, all at once, whenever they like, against a clock, across real days, slowed down or speeding up.
Simulation
The real problem the game models, and how players learn from it.
Help look after it
Editors read the proposals people send, approve them or send them back with a reason, and hide spam. Anyone can apply to be one: sign in, then choose Join the editors in the top bar and say why you would like to and what you know of games. I read every application. There is no fixed amount of time to it.
Working notes
Two notes written in April 2026 while the blocks were chosen. Some example games named in them were removed from the knowledge base in October after checking.
