A ball moves one step at a time along the lines of a grid, and every line drawn stays. When the ball lands where lines already meet, it bounces and the same player moves again. The pitch fills with the history of the game.

## What it shows a designer

Every line drawn changes what can be drawn next, and old moves create new ones through bouncing. It shows how a game's history can live on the board and become its strategy.

## What you need

- squared paper
- a pen

## How to play

1. **The pitch.** On squared paper mark a field 10 squares long and 8 wide, with a goal two squares wide in the middle of each short side. The ball starts at the centre point.
2. **A move.** Draw a line from the ball to any of the eight points around it, along a square's side or across its diagonal. The ball is now there.
3. **Limits.** No line may be drawn twice, and none may run along the edge of the pitch. The ball leaves the pitch only through a goal.
4. **Bounce.** If the ball lands on a point that already has a line, or on the edge, the same player moves again.
5. **Win.** Get the ball into the other player's goal. An own goal loses. A player who cannot move loses.

## After playing, talk about

- When did you set up a chain of bounces?
- How did the old lines change where you could go?
- Did the edges help or hurt?
