# Liar's Dice — bid on dice you can't see

- From: Liar's Dice (Dudo, Perudo), a bluffing dice game
- Players: 2–6 players
- Time: 10 min
- Made by: Traditional; played across South America as Dudo or Perudo
- This version: Three dice each, paper in place of cups, and no wild ones

Made with boardgameBuilder 0.14.4. To design from it, open boardgameBuilder and choose Open game: its blocks go on the canvas, and the feelings are left for you to pick.

Everyone rolls in secret. Players take turns raising a bid on how many dice of a face are on the whole table, until someone calls the last bid a lie. Then all dice are shown and someone loses a die.

## What it shows a designer

Every bid is a claim you can't check without risking a die. It shows how bluffing works when information is shared but hidden, and how a game tightens as each loss shrinks what you know.

## What you need

- 3 dice for each player
- a sheet of paper each, folded to hide your dice

## How to play

1. **Roll.** Each player rolls three dice behind a folded paper and looks only at their own.
2. **Bid.** The first player bids a number and a face: 'four 3s', meaning there are at least four 3s among all the dice on the table.
3. **Raise or call.** Going clockwise, each player either raises the bid (more dice, or the same number of a higher face) or calls 'Liar'.
4. **Reveal.** On a call, everyone shows their dice. If there are fewer of that face than the bid, the bidder loses a die; otherwise the caller loses one.
5. **Next round.** Everyone rolls again. The player who lost a die starts the bidding.
6. **Win.** A player with no dice left is out. The last player with dice wins.

## After playing, talk about

- How did you guess what others held from their bids?
- When did you bid on something you didn't have?
- How did the game change as dice ran out?
